What makes iwl different?
inwhatlanguage has over 35 years in the industry and we know translation. We were a translation and localization company first and have now paired that knowledge and understanding with the power of technology to now offer one of the best translation management software packages available. Our translation software, called Unify, allows organizations to manage large and small projects worldwide with hundreds of linguists doing simultaneous translation while also allowing organizations to seamlessly integrate the Unify API with their technology. So, when asking what makes inwhatlanguage different we simply say if you are looking for the best quality and highest value translation go no further and when that is paired with our amazing software you will find we save you time, money and headache. Oh and we should mention we are extremely fun to work with. 🙂
What is translation memory?
Translation memory (TM) is essentially the “memory” or saved files and translations you have used previously. Translation memory can be leveraged to save significant costs and time in future translations. With our Unify translation management software (TMS) all translations are saved and can be used for future translations and translation memory.
How does translation memory reduce cost?
Translation memory (TM) saves money because much of the translation will have already been completed. There is no need to translate a phrase again and with our Unify translation management system (TMS) all the translations will automatically populate from past translations saving both time and money.
Can you work with my previous translation memory?
Yes. We simply import the translation memory into Unify’s platform and your future translations will leverage what you’ve already paid for and translated.
What advantage does iwl Unify translation management have for my translation memory?
Unify Translation management software can easily import your translation memory and pull from past translation projects to save you significant time and money on future translations.
What software integrations does your Unify software have?
Unify translation management system (TMS) has integrations with almost all the major API’s including Desk, WordPress, Drupal, GIT, Python, Sitecore, Adobe, Joomla, Magento, and others. If you are wondering about your platform chances are we can integrate with it. We will do custom integration projects.
Can Unify translation management software integrate with my custom software?
Yes. We are able to build custom API’s and can integrate with every system we have tested.
How do you ensure quality for your translations?
Quality is what we have been built on. With over 35 years in the industry we know the importance of maintaining high quality standards. Depending on the project type and scope we will setup several review points before completion. All our translations are done by native speakers which also ensures quality and readability. Our Unify translation management system (TMS) will of course save the translations so you can continuously manage the translations across your brands and materials and keep translation consistent.
What is machine translation?
Machine translation is when a language is run through a database looking for an exact match of a word and what that word means in a particular language. Machine translation can be great for simple phrases but we are several years away from having machine translation be able to translate for contextual meaning and marketing materials. Our Unify translation management system (TMS) will leverage both machine translation and human translation if desired. We integrate with the Google Translate API. As a quick example “You are the apple of my eye” can’t be machine translated with accuracy across languages but the phrase “I Love You” could be. The reason is the contextual meaning and idiom phrasing is extremely difficult to program with a machine. With human translation a linguist will know if they should use the word “jeans” or “trousers” or “pants” or “levis” for the translation because of the context and the client input. Unfortunately, machine translation and artificial intelligence thinking engines aren’t quite good enough yet. We expect this to be about 15-20 years away before more machine translation can be used. Until then we integrate and leverage the power of machine translation with the benefits of a human linguist.
Can iwl work with machine and human translation?
Yes. We integrate directly with machine translation tools including Google Translate and then pair the machine translation with a human linguist to ensure proper connotation and context for the translation and localization project.
What is a translation glossary and how does it relate to translation memory?
A translation glossary is simply a glossary of terms and the correct translation that correlates to that translation. For example if a company wants a word to be translated as “ABC” then that would be in the translation glossary as “ABC” for that word. This is used for translation memory (TM) because it can be then input as “ABC” every time that word or term or phrase is used. This is particularly helpful for marketing or branded materials. Our Unify translation management system (TMS) will maintain the translation memory and glossary so future translations are automatically updated with the correct word. This of course saves time and money.
How does Unify integrate with Google Translate or Bing Translate?
Unify integrates with both Google Translate and Bing Translate through their API. If you want to leverage machine translation Unify translation management system (TMS) can help you leverage the power of machine translation and then pair that with human linguists.
How can I know if the quality of the translation is good?
All of our linguists are tested and independently reviewed before they can translate anything for us. We pride ourselves in our quality and have often been told our translations are the best. If you are in need of additional reviews of any materials you are getting translated we can easily set that up for you and have your projects reviewed by several linguists. This is very common with technical work and legal material.
Can I get discounts if I have a high volume of work to be translated?
Because no two translation projects are the same we will work with you and your team to make sure we all have an understanding of the scope of work. Please communicate the scope and potential project sizes with us and we can coordinate on discounts and different payment options.
What is the best way to keep my cost the lowest they can be for translation?
Translation is usually calculated on volume so to keep costs down make sure you aren’t double translating and are leveraging translation memory (TM).
What is the referral program?
We are happy to send a gift card to any of our clients for making a simple introduction. Easiest way to get free Starbucks for life.
How long do your translations take?
Timeline is determined by project scope and length of text being translated, as well as revisions needed. Depending on those factors most translations take just 7-10 business days.
I need my translation done faster than that. Do you have a special service for translations that need to be delivered on the same day?
Yes, we offer Rush Translation services for those translations that need extra-fast delivery: depending on the size and complexity of the project, they can be delivered in the same day, in the next 48 hours, or any other specific length of time.
Please, keep in mind that extra charges are applied for rushed projects – the more rush, the higher the price.
I have a sentence that I need translated. Can you help me with that?
We have a minimum of $80 per project, which is the average price for a one-page translation. For translations of a few words, or a sentence, perhaps an online machine translator would be more adequate.
We actually need small translations done fast at a regular pace. Could you help us with that?
We are flexible, and we can consider a bunch of separate small translation as one project. It’s all about communication and organization – don’t hesitate to talk to us and explain your needs!
Do you have a pricing table for your translations?
Translation prices are highly variable depending on languages, length, specialization, complexity, formatting and deadline, so a table of fixed prices would definitely not be a very accurate orientation tool. If you want to know how much a project would cost you, simply request a quote with the details, and we will get back to you promptly – no strings attached!
I need a translation in a language that doesn’t appear in your list of languages. Would that be possible?
We can only guarantee our services in the languages specified in our languages list. That said, don’t hesitate to request a quote with your translation project details nonetheless – we can always try our best to accommodate to your specifications!
I am a translator and I would like to be part of your team. What should I do?
